THE BEST HIKE I'VE EVER BEEN ON

My 💯th list!
  1. About two years ago, me, my siblings, and my husband spent a few days at Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada
  2. Banff is home to many natural beauties, including the Rocky Mountains and Lake Louise
  3. We decided to hike the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail
  4. The trail was about 11 km (7 mi) and ascended at least 2000 meters in elevation
  5. The hike took us through valleys...
  6. ...peaks
  7. ...snow caps
  8. ...forests
  9. ...lakes
  10. ...creeks
  11. ...and steep rocky cliffs.
  12. At the midway point, there was a tea house that served tea and snacks to hikers.
  13. They had the most amazing tuna sandwiches with homemade bread, made all the more delicious by our exhausted bodies and hungry stomachs.
  14. The whole hike took about 6 hours.
  15. As we walked the last 15 minute stretch, we could hardly utter a coherent sentence.
  16. Chilled by spontaneous rain, we trudged in soaked socks and shoes, every muscle in our bodies aching and in pain.
  17. It was one of my favorite moments of the hike.
  18. My only thoughts were of the next step, and the next, and the next.
  19. The soreness in my body and the throbbing in my feet told me that my body was working.
  20. And that I was alive.
