1. Achieving goals I didn't think I could achieve

There so many days when I don't want to run. My legs hurt, I'm tired, it's a little rainy outside... But the feeling you get when you finish that run you didn't want to do, make it up a hill, or set a new time makes it worth it. And when you achieve a goal, you can imagine yourself doing a Rocky cheer like when he made it to the top of the steps in Philly.
  2. Upbeat dance music

It's a multi generational dance party in my head, and I love it. You can even get a little bit dancy when running, which makes you forget that you're running and it hurts. Chromeo - Fancy Footwork, the Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face, and the B-52's Love Shack are some of my favorite tunes to run to.
  3. The antigravity work it's doing on my butt

For real. Running's got me feeling like Ned Flanders and his tight ski pants.
  4. Exploring new parts of the city

I'm lucky enough to live in Vancouver, which is a beautiful city with mountains, parks, trees, the ocean, and a stellar skyline. One of my favorite things about running is looking at a map, finding someplace interesting, and running there to explore it.
  5. Cute animals

I'd probably run faster if I didn't stop to take pictures of and try to befriend every cat, squirrel, chipmunk, or other cute animal that I saw. One time I was attacked by a playful black lab puppy and it was the happiest thing ever.
  6. Endorphins

"Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t."
  7. Special alone time to think
I can ponder life, lists, food, people, food.. Yeah, I'm usually thinking about food 🍩🌯🍪
  8. Eating

I love making up for a big run by eating donuts, burritos, pizza, cookies, or any other big meal really, because I need those calories. All three thousand of them. #math
  9. Why do you love running?
  10. Or do you hate running? I do too sometimes. I'm probably subconsciously making this list to remind myself that I do like running even when I think I hate it..
