1. "I'm not political."
I have the luxury of not seeing my setbacks and struggles in terms of anything except misfortunes. I benefit from the inherent power structures of the world.
  2. "Don't be so mean."
Don't call someone racist because they don't want to feel criticized.
  3. "At least they're trying."
White people in power should get credit for not being demon shitbags 100% of every day.
  4. "It doesn't help to yell."
I'm more concerned about feeling uncomfortable with your disapproval than I am with acknowledging your hurt or your opinion.
  5. "Just ignore it."
I can ignore this because it doesn't directly comment on my identity or impact me.
  6. "I'm not in charge of everything."
It seems hard to figure out what to do in this situation.
  7. "Free speech is important."
It's easy for me to say what I think because the majority of the people around me look, think, and act like me.
  8. "You're being rude."
You're upsetting the status quo, which I benefit from, and I don't want to be made to think about that.
  9. "It's not worth it."
It's not worth it to me.
  10. I'm not going lie
What I'm about to say is going to be super harsh, OR a total lie
