Books I've read in 2017

And my rating. More to come...
  1. The Book Thief
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really liked it. It's written from the point of view of death which I found very interesting.
  2. Small Great Things
⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was very similar to all of her other books but it was well written. Not my favorite book by her.
  3. Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls and Everything In Between
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I may be biased since Gilmore Girls is and always will be my favorite show. My favorite memoir I've read. I laughed, I felt her emotion. It was like she was sitting next to me telling me stories about her life and Gilmore Girls. I tried to read it slowly but I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to keep reading but I didn't want it to end just like I didn't want Gilmore Girls or Gilmore Girls a Year in the Life to end. I will be rereading this many times.
  4. The Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood
☆☆☆ Good story but hard to get into at times. Some parts dragged on a bit. I did enjoy the last several chapters.
  5. The Hogwarts Collection
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Interesting information that wasn't in the books. JK Rowling's mind is amazing.
  6. Eleanore and Park
☆☆☆☆☆ Another book that I couldn't put down. It's different from the typical teenage love story. I wanted it to continue.
  7. My Story by Elizabeth Smart
☆☆☆ an interesting story but the writing wasn't great.
  8. The Summer Before the War
☆☆☆ Good story but there were some boring parts that dragged on. It reminded me of Downton Abby
  9. A Stolen Life
  10. Heaven is for Real
  11. The Shack
  12. Out of My Mind
☆☆☆☆☆ This was my second time reading this. It is a book that everyone should read. It really makes you think about how you treat others. I know a lot of teachers read this to their students. I had to read it for my intro to ed class. I ended up reading it before the class even starred and made my mom read it also.
  13. Two by Two
☆☆☆☆☆ Not his typical romantic love story (actually it's pretty much the opposite) but similar to is other novels in the way he makes you love the characters (well, all but one, there's always a bad guy). Then the last 1/3 of the book has you sobbing. 😢
  14. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them- screen play
☆☆☆☆ Not quite up to HP standards but still good. I liked the actual movie.
  15. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
  16. The Circle
☆☆☆ I wanted to like this more than I did. I kept waiting for her to wake up an realize how awful the company she is working for is. I read it because the movie comes out later this month with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks. I'm hoping the movie is better.
  17. Paris for One and other short stories.
  18. Shine
☆☆☆ It's a short story that seems like clips that were cut from her book Small Great Things.
  19. I Remember Nothing and other reflections
  20. Mom & Me & Mom
  21. Scrappy Little Nobody
☆☆☆☆ Funny and down to earth. I found myself laughing out loud several times. There was only one part that I didn't find quite as interesting/ entertaining but the rest was great.
  22. Everything, Everything
  23. The Horse Dancer
☆☆☆☆ started out slow but it turned into a good story.
  24. Matilda
  25. Big Little Lies
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ So good! Go read this book right now! So many twists and turns with a few unexpected laughs thrown in there.
  26. Everything You Want Me to Be
Takes place in MN (the people reading the audio book don't know how to pronounce MN words and places) ☆☆☆☆
  27. The Last Letter from Your Lover
☆☆☆ Good story but really slow.
  28. Nevertheless
☆☆☆☆☆ an interesting read. I never knew most of what he wrote about his past.
  29. 1984
☆☆ I found it boring and hard to stay focused on what I was reading.
  30. The Zookeeper's Wife
☆ don't bother. I didn't want to finish it but I finally got to the end.
  31. The Girl Before
  32. The Girl Who Played With Fire
  33. The Best of Me
  34. The Christmas Shoes
☆☆☆☆☆ read it in one day it made me cry
  35. The Christmas Hope
☆☆☆☆☆ This one made me cry also.
  36. The Christmas Blessing
☆☆☆☆ Not as good as #1 or #3 but still a good and quick read.
  37. Yes, Please!
☆☆☆☆☆ listen to the audiobook. She has guest readers and adds things that you don't get just by reading the book.
  38. The Nightingale
☆☆☆☆ So much better than The Zookeeper's Wife. It was an interesting way to tell the war story form the point of view if 2 adult sisters.
  39. The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
  40. Why Not Me?
  41. Goodbye, Vitamin
☆☆☆☆ My first book of the month club book. Heart breaking and heart warming at the same time.
  42. Bossypants
  43. To Kill a Mockingbird
    ☆☆☆☆☆ one of the greats.
  44. Go Set a Watchmen
☆☆☆ kind of a disappointment. To Kill a Mockingbird was such a great novel and this one had some good parts but overall was a let down.
