I ACCEPTED THAT THESE THINGS ARE NATURAL

We drove an hour on a perfectly cloudy day in April looking for a sunflower field through tumbling hills and rolling creeks. The wind blew over the car likely faster than we were driving. The windows were down. I only heard what the wind pushed into my ears, but on our two lane road I saw:
  1. Expired homes
  2. Vine covered barns
  3. Fallen fences
  4. Dead turkeys
  5. Cemeteries
  6. Bricks fallen from walls
  7. A dried up river filled with dead trees
  8. A sign for a Fall Festival
    It was April, remember.
  9. A funeral procession in a ghost town
