1. I was around 8, and this girl that went to my church always called me her boyfriend as a joke.
  2. She was in high school, and knew my parents very well because they were her youth group leaders.
  3. My parents forced me to call her one day and invite her on a date.
They thought it would be hilarious, which it kind of was. (Our family is very much into pranks)
  4. My dad acted as our chauffeur.
  5. I was a complete gentlemen; walked up to the door, opened the car door AND the restaurant door.
Not to brag, but... I'm one of the good ones😉
  6. We went to McDonald's. I got a happy meal, she got a double cheeseburger and a value fry.
Dad waited in the car because it would have been awkward if he crashed our date, obviously.
  7. I walked her up to her house at the end of the date, and she gave me a kiss on the cheek.
  8. Flash forward to freshman year of high school.
  9. I had a health class, and they always bring in someone to teach the sex education unit.
Not the logistics of it, of course. More like, how to practice safe sex and kind of destigmieze it, which is a really cool thing they do. Reading some lists, it doesn't sound like most schools do this, and instead just preach abstinence.
  10. The woman who came in to teach my class looked very familiar, but I couldn't place her.
  11. Then, after the teacher introduced her, she came up to me and asked if I thought it was awkward for her to teach me about sex.
  12. I was like "...um, no?"
She had gotten married, so she had a different last name, and I still didn't know who she was.
  13. About half way through the class, I pieced it together, and then refused to make eye contact with her.
So yes, yes I did think it was awkward she was teaching me about sex.
  14. And that's how my first date taught me about sex.
