Just call me Vinyl Lionel! (or: My Record Collection, Innit.) 🎼😁🎢

  1. β€’
"The Simpsons Sing The Blues" LP (+ "Do The Bartman" single)
The first vinyl record (and single) I ever owned, from my 90's childhood during the peak of "Simpsons Mania", and from when vinyl still existed, but was dying out thanks to the advent of CD's. (Funny how tastes in methods of music consumption have come full circle, innit?)
  2. β€’
Miles Davis - "Kind of Blue"
This was in a newsagents for just Β£2.99, as part of one of those fortnightly magazine subscription thingies. Really, it's the buying of this that has lead to this collection having even started in the first place...
  3. β€’
Jim Williams - "Kill List" (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
Ever since I first saw Ben Wheatley's creepy af movie, I've wanted the amazing/bone-chilling score for it. But for, like, 5 years it wasn't commercially available...until they did this super limited edition only available on vinyl. And thus, my collection officially went full swing...
  4. β€’
The Beatles - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
Another big boon to my vinyl collectioning was Tesco stocking vinyl in their music section (which, due to Tesco's status as a ginormous supermarket chain, only went to show how popular the vinyl resurgence has become). This was the first vinyl I got from them. Because Beatles.
  5. β€’
VA - "Pulp Fiction (Music from the Motion Picture)"
I mean, if ANYTHING is going to sound suited to vinyl, it's a Tarantino soundtrack.
  6. β€’
    Foo Fighters - "Greatest Hits"
Daaaave Groooohl's my heroooo / Watch him as he goes! 😁
  7. β€’
David Bowie - "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars"
    RIP, Starman. πŸ˜”
  8. β€’
    Adele - "25"
Lionel Richie had a good run, owning ownership over the word "hello". But now, he's having to say hello from the other siiiiide... 😁
  9. β€’
    Radiohead - "The Bends"
Has YOUR baby got the bends? Then WHY DID YOU TAKE THEM DIVING, YOU DOO-DOO HEAD?
  10. β€’
    Nirvana - "Nevermind"
Is that one of Donald Trump's baby pictures...?
  11. β€’
George Ezra - "Wanted On Voyage"
I'm running out of funny caption ideas now, tbh. 😬
  12. β€’
David Gilmour - "Rattle That Lock"
Looks like a lost "Animorphs" book cover...
  13. β€’
VA - "You're Next (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
    Thank god for Death Waltz.
  14. β€’
John Grant - "Pale Green Ghosts"
I'mma let you finish, but "Glacier" is one of the greatest songs of ALL TIME.
  15. β€’
    CHVRCHES - "Every Open Eye"
Can you spare a minute to talk about our lord and saviour, Lauren Mayberry?
  16. β€’
Radiohead - "A Moon Shaped Pool"
So I guess I didn't win that Radiohead Instagram competition, then. Eh. I expected as much. All my entry was was a video of me tipping conkers onto my head...
  17. β€’
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "F#A# infinity"
I've been wanting to get this record more than any other for years and years, because A) it's an amazing album, but also B) this vinyl edition comes with various ephemeral inserts, including a Canadian coin crushed by a train on a railroad track. (GY!BE are offbeat in that way...)
  18. β€’
VA - "Drive (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
    I mean...C'MON...it's "Drive"!
  19. β€’
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven"
GY!BE are arguably the best at vinyl releases. (The inner artwork for this is flabbergasting...)
  20. β€’
Rob - "Maniac (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
Thank god for Death Waltz...again. (And no, I don't know why I like synth/horror soundtracks on vinyl so much. 'Tis just the way 'tis.)
  21. β€’
Angelo Badalamenti - "Twin Peaks (Original Score)"
That gum you like has come back in style... πŸ‘πŸ»β˜•οΈπŸ°
  22. β€’
My Chemical Romance - "The Black Parade"
Did I ever tell you the story of how when I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see a marching band...?
  23. β€’
Ben Lovett - "Synchronicity (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
    Death Waltz strikes again!!
  24. β€’
Michael Kiwanuka - "Love & Hate"
That title track has been stuck in my head for over a month now...
  25. β€’
Ennio Morricone - "The Hateful Eight" (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Was I the only one who thought that Morricone must've surely had an Oscar or several already, before he won one in 2016...?
  26. β€’
Pink Floyd - "The Dark Side of the Moon"
Thank god for cash-grabbing anniversary reissues, or I might've had to pay an arm and a leg to get a previous new copy of this off of eBay...
  27. β€’
John Paesano - "Daredevil (Original Television Soundtrack)"
Mondo/Death Waltz sure do love my wallet, don't they?
  28. β€’
Sean Callery - "Jessica Jones (Original Television Soundtrack)"
    Fuck you, Kilgrave.
  29. β€’
Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad - "Luke Cage (Original Television Soundtrack)"
I'd pay good money to see a grudge match between Luke Cage and Nicolas Cage...
  30. β€’
Clint Mansell - "The Fountain (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)"
You haven't lived 'til you've heard all 8 transcendent minutes of "Death Is The Road To Awe"...
  31. β€’
    VA - "Classic Rock Anthems"
Basically the unofficial playlist of Sam and Dean Winchester. 😈
  32. β€’
UPDATE (31/12/2016): It only took me all year, but I finally - FINALLY - got a turntable to actually play all these records on! PRAISE JEBUS!! 😁😁😁
