These can't compare to their original counterparts but here are my favorites. In no particular order...
  1. Creedance Clearwater Revival- I Heard It Through the Grapevine
It was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966. It has been performed by many Motown artists, most notably, Marvin Gaye. This song is always on my playlist.
  2. Joe Cocker- With a Little Help from My Friends (Original- Beatles)
Fell more in love with this cover thanks to the show, The Wonder Years, even though I was familiar with the Beatles original.
  3. Jimi Hendrix- All Along The Watchtower (Original- Bob Dylan)
  4. Pearl Jam- Last Kiss (Original- Wayne Cochran)
  5. Norah Jones- Nearness of You (Original- Glenn Miller)
An old friend gave me Norah Jones' "Come Away with Me" album as a gift and I discovered this gem.
  6. Adele- Hiding My Heart (Original- Brandi Carlile)
  7. Sara Bareilles- In Your Eyes (Original- Peter Gabriel)
Sara Bareilles is great with covers which brings me to the next item...
  8. Sara Bareilles- (Sittin' On) The Dock of The Bay (Original- Otis Redding)
    So Good.
  9. 311- Love Song (Original- The Cure)
A slower, mellow version of The Cure song
  10. Janis Joplin- Me & Bobby McGee (Original- Roger Miller)
  11. Soft Cell- Tainted Love (Original- Gloria Jones)
  12. The Black Crowes- Hard To Handle (Original- Otis Redding)
  13. Kings of Leon- Dancing On My Own (Original- Robyn)
Loved this cover they did for BBC Radio 1
  14. John Mellencamp & Me'Shell Ndegeocello- Wild Night (The Original- Van Morrison)
I used to watch this video a lot on VH1 when it first aired. It used to be my "getting ready to go out" music.
  15. Fugees- Killing Me Softly (Lori Lieberman but most notably Roberta Flack)
  16. Aretha Franklin- Respect (Original- Otis Redding)
    A classic.
  17. Maxwell- This Woman's Work (Original- Kate Bush)
  18. Grace- You Don't Own Me (Original- Lesley Gore)
  19. Sleeping At Last- I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) (The Original- The Proclaimers)
This slowed down version of a rather upbeat song is so hauntingly beautiful. In repeat.
  20. Louis Armstrong- La Vie En Rose (Original- Edith Piaf)
Both beautiful in their own right. The song never fails to make me a little teary eyed.
  21. Led Zeppelin- When The Levee Breaks (Original- Kansas Joe McCoy & Memphis Minnie)
  22. Rage Against The Machine- Renegades of Funk (Original- Afrika Bambaataa)
Love their take on this song.
  23. The Beatles- Twist and Shout
Written by Bert Berns and Phil Medley and originally recorded by The Top Notes.
  24. The Black Crowes- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (The Original- The Beatles)
I love The Beatles version dearly but this is good as well. Very upbeat.
