I can't believe I've left a list request from @veshecco go unlisted for so long! Links to songs included.
  1. The National
    Static
This band is the owner of my entire heart. Probably the only contemporary band that makes me feel such joy and sadness. I feel less alone listening to them. I've said this to some friends when I first started listen to them and it remains true to this day: I want a love that resembles The National's songs and I won't settle for less. Song: Gospel (live) https://youtu.be/PA07Ro0IZW8
  2. The Smiths
    Static
I was the girl who would always try to make Smiths fans of everyone I met. And if I met someone who actually heard of them I'd instantly fall in love. My favourite all-time band hands down. Song: There Is A Light That Never Goes Out https://youtu.be/y9Gf-f_hWpU
  3. Sigur Rós
    Static
Creators of the most beautiful music that I've heard. My life is separated into two parts, before Sigur Rós and after Sigur Rós. I consider myself to be living my best life right now simply for having their music colour my world. Song: Hoppípolla (live) https://youtu.be/OdpumNj0bJg
  4. Modest Mouse
    Static
I'm the girl who gets a shirt made saying " I ❤️ Isaac Brock" and relish when people ask me who Isaac Brock is. Song: The Star Are Projectors https://youtu.be/jRk1R0FKaek
  5. Radiohead
    Static
The gateway band to every other band/artist I now consider my favourite. I don't believe I would have opened myself up beyond Hip Hop if not for them. Song: Climbing Up The Walls (live) https://youtu.be/cYWg8MfDMqc
  6. PJ Harvey
    Static
The mutherf'ing Queen. I did want to be her and would probably be the artist I would rip off had I any musical talent to speak of. Song: Missed (live) https://youtu.be/GfH4qOFfaJQ
  7. Tori Amos
    Static
Okay maybe it was Tori Amos that got me to Radiohead. My discovery of her music came to at a much needed time in my life and I often go back to her earlier albums (unfortunately we've grown apart but I still love her). Song: Precious Things (live) https://youtu.be/GJsYQY_ZXK4
  8. Patrick Wolf
    Static
I still listen to "To The Lighthouse" on repeat. I no longer cry when I listen to it so I'd like to think I'm stronger. Song: To The Lighthouse https://youtu.be/_5zjuLulK_o
  9. Ted Leo
    Static
I almost asked him to marry me. Oh how things might have turned out differently. Song: Ballad of the Sin Eater https://youtu.be/2RPSO2cJYJ0
  10. Jason Molina/Songs: Ohia
    Static
My favourite all-time album is Didn't It Rain. I've never let anyone else listen to it and my brother in law and cousin's used to have regular listening sessions where we would introduced new music and talk shit. I've never been able to share it because I think tells the person too much about me. Song: Cross The Road, Molina https://youtu.be/wAIq1LP7Pm8 (it frustrates me so much that the uploaded uses the wrong album's image, sheesh)
  11. Interpol
    Static
Probably the band I've seen the most of live. They were dark, moody, jangley and absolutely perfect. They still are but I must admit losing band member Carlos D changed things but I still love them fiercely. I also could never figure out which one I had a crush on. Safe bet is all of them. Song: Leif Erickson (live) https://youtu.be/LhApjF7IqoY
  12. McLusky
    Static
Might be a little left field considering the other bands on here but I love all their albums from their too short career. Song: Alan Is A Cowboy Killer https://youtu.be/FAuGm2Djeg4
  13. The Clash
    Static
The first death to hit me hard was hearing that Joe Strummer had passed. I didn't feel that loss again until Leonard Cohen's death. I'm always amazed how you can feel so much for someone you've never met. Song: Janie Jones https://youtu.be/kyoW0tf6N-Q
  14. Ella Fitzgerald
Here's her concert in Berlin that I listen to whenever I want to be in awe. https://youtu.be/ejbtlXoWaZU
  15. Joy Division
    Static
I was the girl who wore the shit out of her Joy Division shirt and who is super proud that it now fits my niece who also wears the shit out of that shirt. Song: Atmosphere https://youtu.be/1EdUjlawLJM
  16. Leonard Cohen
    Static
    Duh. Song: Suzanne https://youtu.be/svitEEpI07E
  17. I'm definitely leaving people out because this list took me a long time. I got sidetracked many times listening to these bands and artist. I hereby reserve the right to add to list whenever I'm kicking myself for forgetting someone.
  18. The Tragically Hip
    Static
My Canadian citizenship is currently under review for not including them originally. How dare I? They tell stories in their songs about Canadian history, of the wrongfully sentenced, love and death and everything in between. Trudeau was at the final Hip show in their hometown of Kingston - that is how important this band is. Song: Nautical Disaster https://youtu.be/C7T_w8sCe0A
