Top 10 Reasons You Hate First Person Shooters

We all love to play video games. We also love to play the bread and butter of all console gamers, the FPS. Now, most gamers nowadays have played some form of first or third person perspective shooting in it. Regardless, we all hate them as well. From Call of Duty to Splatoon, here are the Top 10 reasons you hate FPS
  1. 10.
    Everyone Plays Them
When I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE! We live in an age where basically every person plays video games. The most accessible of these games are FPS. They usually have an easy learning curve and you can jump right into them with little to no experience.
  2. 9.
    Lack of Single Player
Back in the day, we would always have the single player campaign to keep our minds busy and entertained. With the addition of multiplayer, now we have more to do. Although over the last few years, we have gone from the single player experience to just going online and killing each other. I mean just last year when Black Ops 3 came out, the last gen games didn't even have a single player campaign. We have become so focused on online that we lose on compelling stories from as recent as MW 2.

    Too Many To Pick From
I would say roughly 15 years ago, gaming was still very much a niche hobby. Gamers usually had choice A or B when I came to FPS or any genre for that matter. Yes, there were more but you know it was either one or the other. Now, not only do we have choice A and B, but now we have choice A, A limited edition, A w/ pre-order bonus, A collectors edition, and A Day Zero edition. On top of the fact this is one franchise out of dozens.

    Learning Curve
Remember when you had a lengthy tutorial to help you learn the ropes. Those all but not exist anymore. Now you get dropped into the action and get about 4 prompts to tell you the only 4 buttons need to know. How to use that new fancy gadget? Better figure it out quick, before you die. I'm not saying it's hard to do this, but I mean some structure is nice. We are visual learners. We don't have those handy booklets anymore to tell us every little thing we SHOULD know. On that note....
  5. 6.
Where are the days when you had four weapons to choose from? Either you could be a tank, medic, scout, or a grunt. Now you can be a tank who runs around like a elf and sniping people from halfway across the map. On top of that, you can have so many different attachments and skins and insignias it makes you wonder if you won the gun a Chuck E Cheese. Can't wait to see what fancy weapons we can use in space combat!
  6. 5.
Lagging is usually an issue with your internet or the server. It can be frustrating and cause people to quit playing for a while. Unfortunately, as early as Halo, people have been using a method known as "lag switching". It's not as simple as it once was, but it still happens quite often. Lagging allows for some of the simplest cheating online. Anyone can do it and is known by pretty much everyone. It's what makes cheating so prevalent in FPS nowadays.

We have gotten to a time when getting to the level cap is just the very beginning. You use to be able to get to level 50 and everyone knew you were at least good at the game. Now, if your not at least a level 15 prestige, then your just a noob. Why can't I just be good and not have to start over from scratch to prove how "awesome" I am. I have a life you know...
  8. 3.
    Inexperienced Players
Also known as "noobs", are those players that are relatively new to the game your playing. Now you have to take this with a grain of salt. There are in fact some of these players who are new and learning the ropes. Then we have those faithful level 50 players who couldn't hold their own in a basket of puppies and candy. You know who they are and you love when your team is you and five other noobs. Well it could be worse....
  9. 2.
Yet for every noob in the world, there is those who spend every waking moment crafting their skills in the world of FPS. If you think I'm exaggerating, look no further the MLG and the Call of Duty Pro League. Thanks to the lavish setups and massive prizes winners can get, it's hard not to want to be one of the best. The downside is when your just wanting to unwind after work and your getting completely dominated. It makes you wish you had more time to not suck in their eyes.
  10. 1.
The one thing that everyone hates about FPS is probably the most simple. Everything is based on stats, and it makes everyone wanna rip their hair out. It causes everything from name calling to rage quitting. Think about it. You rage quit because someone keeps saying your KDR is crappy. Or perhaps your playing domination and have the high score, but you suck cause you only got 4 kills. Stats rule FPS and make you love them. Although it's the main reason you hate them with a burning passion...
