These are all eps heavy on Mulder and Scully and their complex, sexually tense, amazingly respectful and strong partnership. These eps are pretty light on the mythology. Think of this as a Mulder and Scully starter pack, because they are what made the series iconic. (Note: episodes are in chronological order.)
  1. Pilot (1x1)
One of those pilots that is expository, informative, and establishing in the best of ways. Also, DD and GA's chemistry is immediate.
  2. Anasazi (2x25)
End of Season 2 = heavy alien mythology involving Navajo code talkers, but also deals with the trust in Mulder and Scully's relationship and tests them in several different ways. Also, in the Anasazi, Paper Clip, and The Blessing Way arc, Scully tends to a sick and wounded Mulder. #precious
  3. Pusher (3x17)
Mulder and Scully face a guy who can control people with his mind. He's obsessed with Mulder and the end is like a Russian roulette style super intense, suspenseful face off. Great Mulder and Scully hand touching.
  4. Small Potatoes (4x20)
Another "funny" episode where Mulder and Scully investigate a man who can change his appearance and is impregnating several women in a small town. The man turns himself into Mulder, and comes on to Scully HARD.
  5. Detour (5x4)
Mulder and Scully are on a team building seminar and end up stranded in the woods being attacked by a tree bark/mothman monster. Scully has to keep Mulder warm and sings "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog" to keep herself awake.
  6. Post-Modern Prometheus (5x5)
The X-Files' take on a Frankenstein story. Shot in black and white, great use of Cher soundtrack, and just a fun, funny story. Mulder and Scully dance to "Walking in Memphis" at the end.
  7. Bad Blood (5x12)
Classic "he said, she said" episode where Mulder and Scully investigate a trailer park of vampires! Guest Star is babely young Luke Wilson. Probably the funniest (if not best) episode, ever.
  8. Triangle (6x3)
Mulder falls into a time loop in the Bermuda Triangle and ends up on an ocean liner in the 1940s, where he meets OSS agent Scully (her 1940s counterpart). In the present day, Scully teams up with the Lone Gunmen to find Mulder, while trying to keep the rescue quiet from the Smoking Man/AD Kersh/Spender. Mulder and 1940s Scully kiss, and present Mulder tells Scully he loves her. ❤️❤️
  9. How the Ghosts Stole Christmas (6x6)
Quintessential haunted house episode, with fantastic guest stars Lily Tomlin and Ed Asner as ghosts who try and turn Mulder and Scully against each other. This ep features a hilariously introspective look at their relationship, all playing out on Christmas Eve.
  10. Arcadia (6x15)
Mulder and Scully play husband and wife in a suburban development where a dirt monster kills people for breaking development decorating/etiquette rules. Such great banter.
