Okay I've been in a years-long affair with Origins. It all began on April 23 two years ago, when I went into the Harvard Sq Origins because I heard you could get a free facial on your birthday. I walked out with a $40 eye cream and I've racked up hella shit since then. Here's what I've tried, and whether you should splurge on it.
  1. Dr. Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer, $42
I have serious sleep issues so the circles under my eyes often make me look like I'm dying. I didn't see any noticeable difference after using this AM & PM for six months. Verdict: not worth it
  2. Dr. Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Advanced Face Serum, $72
Okay I love this stuff. My skin is pretty kind to me but I have a lot of redness on my chin and between my eyes. This has made a noticeable improvement. I've heard it also helps a lot with rosacea. It smells sort of strange but not in an off-putting way. Verdict: worth it
  3. No Puffery Cooling Roll-On for Puffy Eyes, $26
I got this as a free sample when I bought something. It has aloe in it and feels really nice and cool to roll over the skin around your eyes. It does decrease the puffiness under my eyes a little bit but not drastically. I like to use it when I have a headache, I put it on and turn off my light and lie down for a little while. Verdict: nice but not worth buying
  4. Clear Improvements Active Charcoal mask to clear pores, $26
This mask is really fun to put on. It feels SO good like you're covering your face in cool clay. Fun to scare your roommates with, too. It's great if you have acne or feel a breakout coming on. A little messy but nice. Verdict: worth it
  5. A Perfect World Age Defense Treatment Lotion with White Tea, $24
Tbh I have no idea what this does for my skin (I guess anti-aging?) but it smells so damn good that I don't care. The A Perfect World line is Origins' best-smelling stuff it you ask me. I use this sooooort of like a toner. It's oil and alcohol free and doesn't leave any kind of residue on your face, just makes your skin feel soft af. It comes with a screw top but I bought a squirt top to keep the contents fresh. Verdict: worth it
  6. A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea, $24
Got this as a free sample. I use it as a face wash when I travel because I prefer salicyclic acid face washes. It foams up nicely and smells wonderful. It's okay but nothing to write home about. Verdict: not worth it
  7. A Perfect World SPF 25 Age Defense Moisturizer with White Tea, $43
This moisturizer is really thick so I don't use it at the peak of summer but otherwise it's great. Smells super nice and has SPF. Verdict: I like it but it's not a miracle worker
  8. Modern Friction Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion, $39.50
I got this tiny size of this as a free sample. It's an exfoliant with rice. I've only used it once and didn't love it. My skin felt v soft after but it stings a little and it's nothing special. I've heard it's better if you have very dry skin. Verdict: not worth it
  9. GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff, $30
I got this as a free sample as well. It definitely brightens but I don't like the consistency and it's SUPER shimmery which is not a look that's for me. Verdict: not worth it
  10. GinZing Brightening Cream Eye Shadow in Sugar Peach, $19.50
Okay I'm not good at makeup so a cream eye shadow is a dream for me. I love this, it's so easy to put on and super subtle. It comes in a lot of other shades. Verdict: very worth it
  11. Drink Up Hydrating Lip Balm, $18
This is okay but very thick and kind of sticky. I have the free sample size and don't use it much. Verdict: not worth it
  12. GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer, $27.50
I love this stuff. I don't wear it daily but use it when I need to freshen up or if I want something lighter than the SPF cream. It has caffeine in it (??!!) and it feels really hydrating and refreshing. It's sort of like a gel and it does leave a little bit of a residue which I don't love. But it smells sooooo good and citrusy. Verdict: worth it
  13. Eye Doctor Moisture Care for Skin Around Eyes, $37
I just started using this and it's so bomb. I feel like I finally found the eye cream I was looking for. My skin gets really dry around my eyes in winter because I rub my eyes a lot as a nervous habit. This stuff is amazing. I put it on AM & PM and it smells so fresh and cucumber-y. Verdict: super worth it
  14. GinZing Brightening Mascara, $19.50
Got this as a free sample too (Okay Origins KILLS the free sample game). I don't wear mascara so I can't judge it. I got a second free sample of it and gave it to my sister-in-law and I think she likes it? Verdict: idk sorry!!
  15. Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst, $26
Free sample. I've used it once and it's really nice! I didn't notice much of a difference but I think it would work better for dry skin. It smells like apricot, SO nice. Verdict: worth it
  16. Drink Up 10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst, $26
A 10-min version of the above mask. Also smells heavenly. You rinse it off after. It leaves your skin very moisturized and super soft and soothed. Great dose of hydration. Verdict: worth it
  17. Sensory Therapy Peace of Mind On-The-Spot Relief, $13
I really love this. Sort of aromatherapy and very calming. It's nice to dab a little on your temples and then lie down in the dark. It is very strong so some people who are sensitive to peppermint don't like it. I try to make sure I don't put on much because otherwise it does burn a little. But if you get the amount right it's just a nice cool tingly spot on your temples. I originally bought the roll-on and returned it for this. Very soothing for headaches. Verdict: worth it!
  18. Make A Difference Rejuvenating Hand Treatment,$22
Usually this comes in a teal tube but I bought it last during the month that everything turns pink. Super expensive for a hand lotion but it is not of this earth. Whenever I let people use this they're blown away. It is so thick and rich and hydrating and a godsend in winter. It smells incredible and refreshing. Really works on seriously dry and cracked hands and absorbs really nicely. Verdict: super worth it
  19. Not pictured: Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash, $22
My sister stole this other free sample but I'm not mad because I hated it. Felt chalky and left that "too clean" weird feeling behind on my skin. Verdict: NOT worth it
  20. Not pictured: Ginger Essence Sensuous Skin Scent, $28 roll-on size
I lost this and feel meh about it. It smells amazing and is super unique as a signature scent, but the smell doesn't last very long. I wore it all through college but haven't replaced it. The roll on was really nice to keep in my bag. Verdict: worth it if you like the scent
  21. I have a problem
