I WENT TO THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO AND THESE WERE MY FAVORITE PIECES

Didn't get pictures of the miniature rooms, but loved those too.
  1. Nocturne: Blue and Gold -- Southampton Water
James McNeill Whistler (had seen images of this one online before--it's so eerily beautiful and I love the way that orange sun draws your eye)
  2. Tattoo and Haircut
    Reginald Marsh (straight hilarious)
  3. American Gothic
Grant Wood (most famous grumpy peeps ever)
  4. Branch of the Seine near Giverny (Mist)
    Claude Monet (like a dream)
  5. Super Table
    Stuart Davis
  6. Arrival of the Normandy Train, Gare Saint-Lazare
Claude Monet (I love paintings and photos of a place in motion. This one also had some of my favorite colors. I love how different it is from much of Monet's other work)
  7. The Fountain, Villa Torlonia, Frascati, Italy
John Singer Sargent (one of my very favorite painters)
  8. Painting with Green Center
Vasily Kandinsky (have never seen a Kandinsky in person before!)
  9. Portrait of Daniel Kahnweiler
Pablo Picasso (so cool to finally see this one in person--I love finding the figures within these cubist portraits)
  10. Nighthawks
Edward Hopper (not my favorite Hopper but his most famous and the second one I have seen in person!!!!)
  11. Self Portrait
    Vincent Van Gogh
  12. The Shelton with Sunspots, N.Y.
Georgia O'Keefe (not the biggest Georgia O'Keefe fan but this one leapt out at me)
  13. Saw
Stuart Davis (colors in this one are my favorite combinations)
  14. Cow's Skull with Calico Roses
    Georgia O'Keefe
  15. Waterloo Bridge, Gray Weather
Claude Monet (love these two takes on this bridge--there are many others in this series not at this museum)
  16. Waterloo Bridge, Sunlight Effect
Claude Monet (I'm not sure which of these two I like more)
  17. Rehearsal of the Pasdeloup Orchestra at the Cirque d'Hiver
    John Singer Sargent
  18. The Old Guitarist
    Pablo Picasso (a classic)
  19. Still Life (Centrifugal Expansion of Colors)
Gino Severini (colors are so strong--and then that gray face staring at you from the top right corner! Chills)
  20. Water Lilies
    Claude Monet (another classic)
  21. The Poet's Garden
Vincent Van Gogh (so lush & vibrant)
  22. Welcome to Our City
