PLACES MAX SHOULD CHECK OUT DURING HIS DAY OFF IN ST. LOUIS ON SUNDAY

Former home, forever love.
  1. City Museum
This is a space specifically and exclusively designed for joy and wonder. Plus, it's near the venue!
  2. Vintage Vinyl
Been around forever, personally beloved by me for their in-stores and pink stickers. The Loop.
  3. Blueberry Hill
This is a classic, must-do St. Louis spot. I dug it as a kid, because it was a restaurant (bar) full of toys (music memorabilia). The Loop.
  4. Fitz's
Peerless root beer float. Yum. The Loop.
  5. Llewellyn's
Welsh Potato Chips! Beers! Central West End.
  6. Pulitzer Arts Foundation & Contemporary Art Museum
Two teeny museums cropped up right next to each other a few years back and they're both so thoughtful. Plus, the Pulitzer is an architectural gem.
  7. Missouri Botanical Garden
This is the ideal MOBot season! Everything's blooming, and it's not yet oppressively humid.
  8. Ted Drewes
Ted Drewes frozen custard is perfect. The Dutchman's Delight Concrete is a family favorite, and the Chippewa location is the best for people watching.
  9. Forest Park
Site of the Worlds Fair in Meet Me in St. Louis (and real life)! It is beautiful, vast, and holds a bunch of free cultural institutions (see below).
  10. St. Louis Zoo
Do not sleep on Big Cat Country!
  11. Movie Theaters
Pretty and/or historic only: Tivoli, Hi-Pointe, Chase Park Plaza
  12. Laumeier Sculpture Park
A 96-acre outdoor museum. It's a magical park to wander about in.

  13. St. Louis Art Museum
They just opened up a new wing for their contemporary art collection. It's beautiful. And it's free! (as are all the public museums in St. Louis)

  14. The Arch
I feel obligated to suggest it. Even if it's a cliche.

  15. Left Bank Books
If you go to Llywelyn's (which I also recommend though I was more a fan of Dressel's the other Welsh pub around the corner) pop your head into Left Banks Books, the best independent bookstore in St. Louis. Excellent selection of new and used books.

  16. Schlafly brewery tour!
    Maybe even the Anheuser-Busch tour?
