Favorite Books, Chronologically: Ages 0-13

@bjnovak I had to cut this list in half, otherwise no one would ever scroll through it... Btw I would still recommend any one of these books.
  1. IN THE NIGHT KITCHEN, Maurice Sendak
  2. BLUEBERRIES FOR SAL, Robert McCloskey
  3. The MRS. PIGGLE WIGGLE series, Betty MacDonald
@white_lightning you would love these stories about a good witch who fixes children's behavioral problems. Also highly recommend Nancy and Plum, about two orphan girls, by the same author...
  4. The LITTLE HOUSE series, Laura Ingalls Wilder
  5. The RAMONA QUIMBY series, Beverly Cleary
  6. THE ORDINARY PRINCESS, MM Kaye
Read it in serialized form in Cricket magazine.
  7. DEAD DOGS DON'T TELL JOKES, Louis Sachar
Also like the more famous Sideways Stories, but this book about a kid learning to do standup had my heart.
  8. DEALING WITH DRAGONS, Patricia Wrede
  9. The TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING series, Judy Blume
  10. A LITTLE PRINCESS, Frances Hodgson Burnett
  11. OLIVER TWIST, Charles Dickens
With my head on my dad's shoulder, finger streaming under the words, we alternated reading chapters out loud.
  12. LITTLE WOMEN, Louisa May Alcott
  13. The ANNE OF GREEN GABLES series, Lucy Maud Montgomery
  14. The A WRINKLE IN TIME series, Madeleine L'engle
  15. The ANATASIA series, Lois Lowry
I also wanted a room with a turret!
  16. THE FACTS AND FICTIONS OF MINNA PRATT, Patricia MacLaughlin
A girl and boy in a string quartet fall into friendship/love. She needs to find her vibrato...
  17. WALK TWO MOONS, Sharon Creech
  18. THE DIAMOND IN THE WINDOW, Jane Langton
Incredible book about transcendental philosophy for children!!! I reread til the covers fell off.
  19. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Harper Lee
  20. GIRL OF THE LIMBERLOST, Gene Stratton Porter
Incredible book about ecological preservation from the turn of the last century!! Own multiple copies.
